Cory Edgar PEng PE PTOE

Renowned as a leading authority in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and transportation electrical infrastructure. He has worked on many innovative ITS projects, including those recognized with awards for engineering excellence. Experienced in the systems engineering process, Cory has prepared strategic plans, feasibility studies, concepts of operations, use case requirements, system requirements, high-level design, and detailed design deliverables. He has overseen the implementation, integration, and commissioning phases of ITS projects, ensuring validation against original requirements. His experience includes traveler information systems, Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), SCADA, PLC control systems, bridge and tunnel systems, reversible lane control systems, railway information systems, traffic data collection, dynamic message sign systems, camera systems, road weather information systems, avalanche detection, seismic early warning systems, automated closure systems, variable speed limit systems, and wildlife detection and warning systems.

Cory is an experienced traffic signal design engineer with a unique cross-disciplinary approach, combining expertise in traffic signal infrastructure design (electrical engineering) and traffic signal operations. As a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), he has served as the engineer of record, overseeing both micro- and macro-simulation modeling (using Synchro and SimTraffic), preparing traffic signal timing plans, and completing traffic engineering checklists. His projects include work for the BC Ministry of Transportation as well as various municipal clients across BC. His experience encompasses designing traffic signals equipped with emergency, ramp queue, and bus pre-emption systems, as well as signals adjacent to at-grade railway crossings. He has applied the TexasDOT methodology for analyzing railway crossings and determining advanced pre-emption timing requirements. 

Cory has an extensive background in the design of lighting systems for complete streets, highways, interchanges, bridges and tunnels as well as off-roadway facilitates including parks, plazas, parking lots, rest areas, commercial vehicle inspection facilities, transit exchanges, multi-use pathways, and ferry terminals.  His project delivery excels in a multidisciplinary environment and he understands the risks, challenges, and opportunities common to infrastructure projects.
